TAMPA, Florida -- Time will tell, but it appears it was a time for several teams in Major Arena Soccer League 2 to come up with statement wins this past weekend.
In Mexico City, the Asuncion took control of the South with a huge, and impressive, 21-4 win over visiting Sonora. In Iowa, the Demon Hawks also stayed perfect on the season, defending their home turf with an 11-4 win over cross-state rival the Iowa Raptors, who suffered just their second loss in seven starts.
Most impressive, however, might have been the debut of the Harrisburg Heat, who outscored previously undefeated United Elite Krajisnik 23 at Utica's Adirondack Bank Center in winning back-to-back road games.
One other team kept their unbeaten streak to start the season alive as well as the OKC Certified Lions squeaked by the Texas Spurs for the second time in two weeks. And in California, both Turlock and Soccer Central handled the Guadalajara Mariachis, who came into the weekend unbeaten as well.
Sneaking a peek at next weekend, the Hawks will get another huge test as they go on the road to meet the Wichita Wings and Guadalajara looks to rebound with road games against the Lions and Spurs. The Raptors will get a chance to get back in the win column, but will have to do so on the road against the overdue Omaha Kings.
