Veteran MASL goalkeeper, league newcomer selected for Week 8 Play of Week Honors
TAMPA, Florida -- A longtime standout in Major Arena Soccer League, and a newcomer to the MASL family, have been selected for Week Eight Player of the Week Honors.
Diego Reynoso for Mexico City, a veteran of many MASL seasons of stellar net play, and Francesco Pagano of Utica's United Elite Krajisnik are this weeks Goalkeeper and Offensive Players of the Week.
Reynoso helped shut down the high scoring Soles de Sonora offense -- featuring MASL stars like Franck Tayou, Cristhian Segura and many other -- holding them to just three goals in the Asuncion's 6-3 road win. With four different MASL teams, dating back to 2013, he has an amazing career regular season record of 117-24. In his most recent MASL season, he went 12-2 for the Chihuahua Savage with a goals against average of 4.46 in the 2024-25 season.
Pagano played at Syracuse University and for the Orange, appeared in 35 games over two seasons. He also played collegiately at Costal Carolina and LeMoyne. This past weekend in Utica, he had a huge game to lead United Elite to a win over the Salisbury Steaks, scoring five goals and adding one assist.
Pagano is a home grown talent, graduating from Fayetteville-Manlius High School where he was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American, two-time First Team All-State selection, two-time All-Region honoree, and CNY Player of the Year in 2019, He was also named the 2020 New York State Gatorade Player of the Year after tallying 45 goals and 17 assists during his time with the FM boys varsity soccer team.
