Utica gets last playoff spot, Harrisburg Heat and Iowa Demon Hawks get 1st round byes
TAMPA, Florida -- It went down to the final weekend of the regular season, but Utica's United Elite Krajisnik grabbed the final of six Major Arena Soccer League 2 playoff spots when they went on the road to edge Spice City FC to earn their spot in the post season.
Playoff action starts Friday at the SIG Sportsplex in Des Moines, with a 4:30 matchup between the OKC Certified Lions and United Elite Krajisnik and a 7 p.m. kickoff between the Omaha Kings and Mexico City. All times are Central Daylight Time.
The action moves to Baxter Arena in Omaha for the semifinals and finals. On Saturday, in the first of the Final Four matchups. the Demon Hawks will square off against the highest remining seed from Friday's games. The Harrisburg Heat, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, will meet the lowest of the remaining seeded teams from Friday's action, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Sunday's championship game is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. All games will be broadcast free of charge online. Look for streaming link information later this week on league and team socials.
Utica punched its ticket with an 8-6 win on Saturday in Danbury, although Spice came back on Sunday and scored an 8-5 win.
Elsewhere on the final weekend of the regular season, the Minnesota Blizzard continued their impressive finish to the regular season by splitting home games, taking down the Iowa Raptors but falling to the undefeated Demon Hawks. Harrisburg also turned in a perfect 12-0 season with a weekend home sweep of Baltimore and Salisbury.
