Tijuana Mexico's Gricks TJ will be joining MASL 2 for 2026-27 season

TAMPA, Florida -- Major Arena Soccer League 2 will once again go "south of the border" to add its newest team  as the league celebrates its 10th anniversary season in 2026-27

Gricks TJ -- based in Tijuana, Mexico -- will be the fourth Mexican team in the six-team Western Division for the season which starts late this fall. They will join Soles de Sonora, Guadalajara Mariachis and the Chihuahua Savage who won the league title two years ago.

"We are excited to bring the MASL brand to Tijuana and are already looking forward to some great and immediate rivalries in the West, especially with our fellow Mexico based sides," said Akex Monar, who serves as the league's Mexican liaison. "The indoor game is very popular in the country in general, and the Tijuana area specifically so those matches will have an intensity and flavor that will be be fun for fans of all the teams."

Commissioner Chris Economides said the "Gricks" will make a strong addition to the West.

"It's an excellent ownership group that is already off and running with their plans for a successful season not only in 2026-27 but for many seasons to come," he said. "You look at some of the games from last year between the Mexican tams, and there is great passion and fanfare and excitement, and the Gricks will just add to that environment. It will be a real battle for not only national pride, but a division title as well."
