Surf's up! Ocean City will welcome Beachtown FC to MASL 2 for 2026-27

TAMPA, Florida – One of the hottest and most tradition rich indoor soccer markets will be getting a new Major Arena Soccer League 2 team as the league celebrates its 10th anniversary season starting late this fall.

Beachtown FC will call Ocean City, Maryland, starting  when the 2026-27 campaign kicks off. The Delmarva area has long been home to the sports, starting in 1980 when the Baltimore Blast roared into existence, a franchise that plays in the Major Arena Soccer League today. The city is also home to FC Baltimore 1729 in MASL 2, and the Baltimore Kings in MASL 3, making it the only major U.S. City to have franchise in all three levels of the MASL indoor soccer pyramid.

In addition, the Delmarva region features the MASL 2 Salisbury Steaks, and the defending MASL 3 champion Delaware City FC, based in Wilmington, the three-time MASL champions Northern Virginia, the Virginia Marauders, the Maryland Storm and Cumberland Valley MASL which plays in Fredericktown, Maryland.

“After an amazing first year in Baltimore with our FC Baltimore 1729 club, it was really a no-brainer to expand with an additional professional franchise in the Ocean City and Delaware beaches region.  My family and I have been so fortunate to have received so much support in this region with our other businesses that we own in Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City, and we are proud of our new endeavor

Dawson said his experience last season in the MASL 2 has been a great help in getting Beachtown FC launched, including the relationships he has been able to already build with other team owners in the region.

“Josh Danza, owner of the Salisbury Steaks over in Salisbury Maryland has done an amazing job and we are looking forward to being a friendly competitor about an hour away,” Dawson said. “Last year we played some spirited matches with them with FC Baltimore, and I look forward to working closely with Josh as we continue to help further the game of professional soccer throughout this region collectively with his franchise as well as ours,” Dawson noted.

MASL 2 Commissioner Chris Economides said Dawson's passion and dedication to indoor soccer shown through in 2025-26 when he launched FC Baltimore 1729.

“It was in many ways a very challenging year for him, but he handled it all with class and professionalism and a dedication to the sport and his players that was a testament to his philosophy and his commitment to be as good an owner as he can possibly be,” Economides said. “Beachtown FC will be in very good hands, and in now Ron and his family will do everything the right way and help that community embrace the Major Arena Soccer League family.”

Dawson added that adding a club in Ocean City was a defining moment in what has been a busy     last 12 months.

“ It’s just been a  whirlwind of a year as we are also competing in professional futsal and will be playing in the futsal national championships in Las Vegas this summer.  This is just another move that solidifies our soccer corporation in the region.”

Cameron Dawson, former professional player and son of owner Ron Dawson will be joining the front office of both organizations where his sister Madison is already the operations director.

“ I’m extremely happy to be coming home and joining my parents who have put so much into the soccer business and looking forward to contributing on a daily basis to the soccer operations as I transition from a player to a minority owner and sporting director” Cameron noted. “I have played in Belgium, Spain, Argentina, England, and of course, here in the United States and I hope to bring all of my experiences as a top amateur and professional player to the organization.”

Major Arena Soccer League 2 will kick off late this fall, with Beachtown FC expected to be part of the the Eastern Division which also United Elite Krajisnik, official MASL affiliate of Utica City FC, and Spice City FC out of Danbury, Connecticut.
