TAMPA, Florida -- Often times, seven goals in a game isn't enough to win a single game, much less two. But don't tell that to Mexico City.
The Asuncion rolled into the heartland this weekend, and scampered back to Mexico City with a pair of hard-fought one-goal wins. On Saturday, they tipped the OKC Certified Lions in a game which featured two teams with a combined record of 17-0 in 2025-26. The visitors won it, 4-3.
On Sunday, they traveled to suburban Dallas where they MASL tested goaltending duo of Berna Valdavinos and Diego Reynoso helped Mexico City nip the improved Texas Spurs, 3-2. The Spurs had a shutout going into the fourth, but Asuncion rallied with three fourth-quarter goals, including the game winner with just under three minutes to play.
Omaha tripped the Wichita WIngs, 9-7, in the other game of the weekend, and will head to the MASL 2 playoffs April 20-22 as one of the league's hottest teams.
Next weekend, fans in Harrisburg will get an early Easter treat as two of the best teams in the East visit Hersheypark Arena when Utica's United Elite Krajisnik visits on Friday and Danbury's Spice City FC visits on Saturday night.
