Major Arena Soccer League 2 Playoffs April 17-19 will have a decidedly midwestern feel

TAMPA, Florida -- The Major Arena Soccer League 2 playoffs will have a decidedly Midwestern feel for the 2025-26 season, with quarterfinals games in Des Moines, Iowa, and Final Four games that will decide the championship set for Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.

Each of the top two teams in the MASL 2 three-division set up will advance to the postseason. As host of the Final Four, the Omaha Kings will be guaranteed a playoff spot in the quarterfinals if they are not one of the top two teams in the West. In that case, only the top team in the West will earn an automatic spot.

The top two teams in the six-team field will earn a first round bye. The new SIG Sportsplex in Des Moines will host quarterfinals on Friday, April 17 with the No. 3 seed taking on the No. 6 seed and seeds four and five also matching up.

Saturday, at 7,800 seat Baxter Arena in Omaha, the No. 1 seed will face the lowest remaining seed on April 18, with the No. 2 seed playing the other quarterfinals survivor.

Sunday, April 19 will be the MASL 2 championship game in Omaha, along with the special Mexican Legends game as an added attraction for fans there.

“Our owners were unanimous in their enthusiasm for this unique set up by putting our championship playoffs in two markets to allow more fans to enjoy the excitement of post season indoor soccer,” Commissioner Chris Economides said. “Des Moines and Omaha have great owners who are dedicated to the sport, their communities, and on putting on a great show of soccer over the three days of playoff action.”

The two cities are an easy two-hour drive apart across Interstate 80, Economides noted, which is one of the reasons the idea was so well received by teams. This is the ninth season of play in MASL 2. More information on the league is available at www.masl2.com.
